3rd Eye the First workshop of Photojournalism in Bamyan

15 July 2010/ This is the first workshop of Photojournalism in central highlands, in Bamyan, Bamyan a city in the heart of Afghanistan, by Prince Claus Foundation & 3rd Eye Photojournalism Center. It the time of starting the training students from the central highlands were happy for assists on the photojournalism training as a first time. Also radios & TV’s cover the reports on maintained issue.
Third Eye Photojournalism Center is aimed to start training on photojournalism from ancient province of Bamiyan by supports of Prince Claus Foundation. Of course, it will cover not only Bamiyan but also her neighboring provinces such as Parwan, Samangan, Ghor, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni and Daikundi.
Totally, twelve people from aforementioned provinces have gathered in Bamiyan for training. Out of each province, we invited two people, one girl and one boy.
The course will be lasted for three months. Our society needs professional photographers to cover the tradition, customs, beauties, people who they are in need “poverty”, Historical elements, people’s portraits, and many things which is not showed to people who they loves to see in where? In Bamiyan where is an ancient province in our country drawing thousands of tourists yearly, we want to hold our course in there.
Prior to this time, Afghanistan could obtain millions of dollars through Afghanistan in many provinces per year. Therefore, we have chosen Bamiyan as the training center as we would like to train new people in order to reflect rich culture of Afghanistan by going all around different villages, views and cities. We hope, through this course, our students could share their pictures with different magazines, then; we will hold exhibitions. And I want them to represent for foreigners that Afghanistan is not only the origin of terrorism, but there we can see different reconstructions; cultural reconstructions, sport reconstructions and building reconstructions. I hope they would do so. In addition, their amount must be raised up among other photographers.
At the end of training, we will hold an exhibition in order to represent their functions and what they have learnt within three months. Each student can have his/her taken pictures as memoirs.
Amina is a trainee with a lot of hope as she is saying: I have always dreamt if I can take photos and become a photographer. Prior to coming Third Eye Photojournalism Center, we had nothing to make our dreams fruitful. Now, I want to heartfelt thank 3rd Eye & Prince Claus Foundation. I hope, someday, I could take pictures from different views and monumental sites of Bamiyan; not only Bamiyan, but also other provinces of Afghanistan.
Maisam: Photojournalism is a useful and practical profession by which we can represent new face of something. Being interested in photojournalism, I have come from Ghor province to get educated and know how to better take photos. I want to thank my dear professors and Third Eye Photojournalism Center. I hope we could take breathtakingly beautiful pictures and reflect realities occurred in our country through photos and pictures.
