U.S. Ambassador visits 3rd Eye Photojournalism Center

Kabul, Afghanistan -- On Sunday, April 18, 2010 U.S. Ambassador Karl Eikenberry and Mrs. Ching Eikenberry joined photographers from 3rd Eye Photojournalism Center in Kabul to highlight the United States support for Afghan artists. During the event, Afghan carpet maker Amin Naadim presented the Ambassador with a carpet depicting him and his wife Ching Eikenberry in order to thank the Ambassador and the United States for its commitment to supporting the Afghan arts. Naadim said “This carpet is a special gift for Ambassador Eikenberry because the Ambassador is a true friend of Afghanistan and I am thankful for the United States cultural efforts in Afghanistan.” He also said “I know the Ambassador has a great friendship with the local Afghan people he shows it during his many trips around the country to speak face to face with Afghans.”Four photographers from 3rd Eye showed their work to Ambassador Eikenberry.


After touring the center, Ambassador Eikenberry said he was deeply moved and said “Providing security to help Afghanistan is important, but the hope and the future of Afghanistan is represented on these walls in these beautiful pictures.” The 3rd Eye Photojournalism Center was established in 2007, and is run by four well-known Afghan photographers. 3rd Eye Photojournalism Center has conducted seven photo exhibitions in Kabul and other Afghan provinces in last tw0 years.
